Jewelry Makers Market: Meet Rachelle Brundage
I am originally from New Brunswick, Canada, but I moved to South Carolina in 1996 to pursue a career in Prosthetics. I love the combination of creative and technical aspects of designing and making artificial limbs. For the past 15 years I have enjoyed making prosthesis, mostly legs, for people in South Carolina. I live in Lexington, S.C. with my husband and two boys.
As a creative outlet, I started to make jewelry in 2005. When I was younger I pursued artistic hobbies, and it has been nice to rediscover those interests. Much of my inspiration comes from nature, such as unusual flowers, leaves, and stones.
At first, I mostly made beaded jewelry. In 2007, I was introduced to silver soldering and began to make my own focal pendants and findings. I have taken courses in silver soldering and fabrication at William Holland Lapidary school in Georgia and from Dan Haga in Charlotte, N.C.
In 2008, I discovered Precious Metal Clay (PMC) and I was hooked. PMC is fine silver in clay form made from recycled silver. Once fired, the clay piece becomes solid metal. I love the versatility the clay offers. The ability to sculpt more detailed pieces gives me a new freedom in what I am able to create. I have also started to do some enameling, which gives me the opportunity to add color to my work. I am excited about the new dimension this brings to my pieces.
I hope people enjoy wearing my jewelry as much as I enjoy making it.

Well done Rachelle! The pieces have a definite Atlantic Canada flavour about them. As delicate as gossamer, or a butterfly wing.

Wow!
