5. Appliances

I feel safe saying that it is never a good idea to buy an appliance for a woman, no matter how much you think she will like it. If she needs a new toaster, buy it for her just because she needs it.  Trust me, the brand new, stainless steel can opener that you saw at the store does not say “romance” to her.

4. Stuffed Toys

You may think these little guys are cute, but, mark my words, check her closet in about a month- you’ll see that stuffed puppy dog with big sad eyes looking down at you from the top shelf.

3. Cleaning Supplies

She isn’t your maid, and cleaning supplies definitely don’t send a romantic message. If you want romance, why don’t you buy those supplies and clean the house for her. She’ll really appreciate you, and this gift of service won’t leave a stink in your relationship that no cleaning product can handle.

2. Fat Free Candy

Run through this scenario with me:

“Happy Valentine’s Day, baby! I got you these amazing Fat Free Chocolates! I know you have been working really hard to try to lose the baby weight, and I think that’s awesome!”

Just don’t go there. Men (most of the time) have the best intentions, but I have learned from past mistakes that if it seems logical to us, it’s wrong them. Let her enjoy the Godiva.

1. Fitness Gifts

Want to send the wrong message this year? Get her a gym membership. While you are at it, go buy her some jeans that you know won’t fit and throw in those fat free chocolates we already told you not to buy. Call your friends and make it a guys’ weekend, because the locks will be changed when you get home. I guarantee it.
